About the military attack of Israel-USA and the new war in Iran
The joint attack of Israel and the USA against Iran on the 28th of February 2026 is what comes next after the so-called “12-day war” of June 2025, when Israel attacked Iran with the help of the USA. In that phase of the war, the Zionist regime attacked, thus escalating the situation and limiting whatever scenario of “mild” resolution to the open issues concerning the Iranian state such as its nuclear program. The June war actually formed the terms and the political context to prepare and set off the current “episode”, which includes the greatest part of the ambitions of the American-Israeli coalition. Under the doctrine of “precautionary war”, which has been announced and consistently followed since the beginning of 2025 by the Israeli state claiming a sort of justification for its military operations in the name of calculated (and not manifested) dangers and threats.
The war that sparked on 28/2, attempts to form a new geopolitical reality in the area that has to do with the broader long-standing pursuits for a “New Middle East.” At the top of their priorities lies to overthrow the Iranian regime, so that any danger for Israel coming from its neighboring states that do not recognize it can be completely eliminated. Not long ago Iran was the pillar of the so-called “axis of resistance” against the aims of Israel and the USA. Apart from that common goal, the two ally states aim to establish and expand their interests in the broader area. Let’s not forget that in the last years, Arab monarchies (which no one is trying to overthrow for the sake of “restoring democracy” as with the Iranian regime), apart from sharing common interests and closely cooperating with the USA for decades, they have made the so called “Abraham Accords” with Israel, recognizing it in this way and creating (on various levels) cooperative relationships, thus accepting its pursuits.
The current war against Iran and simultaneously the military attack in Lebanon against the pro-Iranian Hezbollah may be the most important link in the chain of acts of aggression on the part of Israel in the last two and a half years in the broader area. During this time the Zionist regime has unleashed war operations of a police style in Lebanon, in Iran, in Syria, in Iraq and in Yemen, along with the genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, where Israel has occupied 52% and 83% of the two areas respectively. Putting to use the “final solution” of cleansing the Palestinians by the Israeli state can also be seen in the recent voting by the Israeli parliament in favor of the death penalty and the execution of Palestinian prisoners. A legislation act that is directly linked to the official enactment of the Israeli racist apartheid in July 2018, with the infamous “Nation-State Law” i.e. “Israel, the Nation State of the Jewish people” that degraded Arab-Israelis (about 1,8 million-20% of the Israeli population) to non-citizens. Now they can also be murdered, legally, thus fulfilling the state of exception they are in.
At the same time, by invading Lebanon and with the pretext of demilitarization in the southern part of the Lebanese region, Israel is actually expanding its northern borders, seeking to integrate the ground all the way to the river Litani in the Beqqa valley, which is also a significant water resource. An equivalent occupation of land had taken place a few months earlier in south Syria.
Giving up on the rhetoric of international law. The old well-known discourse of “anti-” terrorism and security to the fore.
This new war operation against Iran is a crucial moment, since, what is clear is that any rhetoric of claiming international law has been abandoned once and for all, and what dominates is power. The Israeli state has claimed from the very beginning that it wants to eliminate the danger coming from Iran while the USA quickly abandoned the rhetoric of “danger from the Iranian nuclear program” (which they had supposedly destroyed during the summer warfare as they were then celebrating) and started to speak afresh with the old and well-known language of “anti”-terrorism and security. What is not an accident is that they both systematically refer to Iran as the “trouble-state” which exports terrorism not only to the Middle East but also to the whole world.
In this exact context the war against Iran seeks to reshape the access to the rich energy deposits in the area and to revive the situation when the USA, through the coup that established the previous regime of the Shah in 1953, practically controlled the Iranian oil reserves before the total change in that sector that was brought about by the Iranian revolution in 1979 and the subsequent establishment of the Shia theocratic regime. In this way and with a more long-term international aim, the USA pursue to inflict commercial and financial damage on the Chinese state which was supplied with 1/3 of Iranian oil (at low prices and in yuan not dollars) as it was respectively supplied with 80% of the oil of Venezuela before the attack of the USA and the “police-like” operation to arrest its president Maduro. In this way the USA are trying to gain advantage against the Chinese state which they deem as their main financial competitor on the planet. At the same time international political goals are also being served. Overthrowing the regime in Iran is another example of US goals expressed by their highest officials (from the Secretary of State Rubio at the recent UN security council in Munich up to the constant addresses by Trump). These goals signify total submission to the NATO commands or just to the American commands if the rest of the states do not follow. In the same sense lies the ideological imposition upon any rivals of what has to do with the western block of domination, of the supremacy of the white western human type and the “exporting” of the western cultural and state model.
Neither with the Zionists and the cops of the planet nor with the Mullahs, always on the side of the revolting
This new phase of the war in Iran comes after the recent uprising of a great part of the Iranian population against the local theocratic regime. An uprising which was first set off due to the particularly harsh financial conditions caused by the enforcement of financial sanctions from abroad and came as a follow-up to previous expanded struggles and uprisings. The sanctions are a political tool of a war type, which is inflicted not only on a state and its national economy measured in numbers but also on the social base itself, making the population impoverished and it can even aim at overthrowing regimes. The same thing happened with the sanctions in Venezuela and is about to happen in Cuba as well. The uprising in Iran quickly gained broader characteristics, anti-regime content and the main position that was expressed by the biggest part of the rioters was against both the oppressive regime and the American-Israel “liberators.” This uprising was suppressed by the Iranian state through an unprecedented slaughter and thousands were killed. What is clear is that the voices defending the rioters from the west (particularly from the USA) are only just a pretext and their discourse about “freedom” is a dead letter. Authorities (internal and external alike) are not interested in the populations and their demands but only take advantage of any situation to their benefit. The history of the US intervention in Iran, since the 1950s until today, has shown just that.
Continuing the argument above, what must be made absolutely clear is that the Iranian regime has nothing to do with the people’s freedom, even if it fights against western interests and is the enemy of those who attack. Even though an imperialist intervention is taking place by the USA-Israel alliance, being against it bears no liberational content if it revolves around a mere anti-imperialist perspective. At this point we would like to note that anti-imperialism, besides the structural and historical criticism that it has received, it nowadays has greatly become campism, either directly expressing or implying opinions that support one or the other state or interstate dominant pole according to which dominant block is recognized as the “axis of evil”. However, only social struggles, conflicts, riots and rebellious attempts are related to the liberational vision from the social-class perspective, as it has always been. On the contrary, choosing to support one state or power bloc leads to movements to think like the state. Opposing war and the military attack against Iran does not mean defending the regime in power but it means being against states and their alliances in total with the view to both individual and social liberation.
The escalation of antagonisms between dominant powers, the broadening of war zones, the intensive war preparation
The constant need for development/expansion, the exploitation of humans by humans and of nature, the antagonism among states and capitals are basic elements of the capitalist system.
Capitalism is still expanding on every level at a frantic pace, leading at the same time the contradictions that it creates to an outburst: escalation of class exploitation and expansion of social inequality, intensified plunder and excessive destruction of nature, intensification of antagonism among states and capitals to gain access to raw material and markets for technological and military superiority. The wealth that is produced as well as the power are extraordinary, so is the rhythm of their accumulation by the financial and political elite.
The escalation of antagonisms between the dominant powers of our times is strongly related to the current technological transition and its productive and social applications (internet, data bases, platforms, AI, data centers, satellites, the fourth industrial revolution, digital transformation of production, of communication, of the state, of social control etc.). It is also related to raw materials (energy resources and pipelines, rare earth elements, uranium, important metals etc.) and the trade agreements, the trade routes and hubs (eg. ports), investment funds (direct foreign investments, financialization), the dollar drop as the international currency of exchange and reserve, the war and space industry etc.
The USA, as one of the two superpowers that emerged after WW 2, as the one that dominated at the Cold War after the collapse of the eastern bloc of power at the beginning of the ‘90s and declared the neoliberal globalization and the end of history, is now facing a steady downfall. Their financial indicators have been declining for years, their state debt is becoming more and more enormous, their productive, technological, commercial and currency dominance is trembling and thus they have been trying to come back as an imperial power.
In that sense the USA published towards the end of 2025 their new Strategy of National Security (NSS) in which they announced the limitation of spreading the military forces that are placed all over the planet (something quite costly) along with avoiding to being involved in warfare that does not offer any immediate and visible gain (especially long-term ones). In this way they shrink their role as a worldwide cop and the “guarantees” of Pax Americana (peace ensured by the imperial status and the submission of all others to it).
It is a document in which the USA prioritize regaining their dominance financially, politically, and ideologically in the western hemisphere, which they consider to be their backyard and as a result their exclusive sphere of influence. The operation in Venezuela, the embargo in Cuba, the announcements of integrating Greenland and Canada, the pursuit to take back a series of investments and agreements of China on the American continent (the one concerning the Panama Canal has already been cancelled) are all indicative of that particular strategy.
As far as the European continent is concerned, the NSS document describes the European states as a rather not so reliable ally, on a path to decline, financially, militarily, culturally. At the same time, the USA call “the states of the European Union to take primary responsibility for its [Europe’s] own defense”, to staff their NATO bases they themselves with the necessary troops and the essential equipment by giving 5% of their GDP for NATO needs. Even further, the USA “threat” their allies with leaving NATO if the other states do not support and take part in their military operations and issues that result from them, like opening the Strait of Hormuz in the current phase of the war against Iran.
All the above are directly related to the feverish war preparation that the EU started within 2025, not only in military terms (ReArm Europe program, 800 billion euros until 2030) but also in terms of ideology (officials making statements for the people to accept the possibility to receive coffins covered in flags coming from battlefields, for the need to bring back heroism and the culture of war in European societies, for maybe the last peaceful summer -placing Russia in the center as the major threat- and, generally, increasing military and nationalistic propaganda). The European states realizing that they represent something less and less important on the level of financial, political and military power and that they are about to exit the “safety umbrella” of the USA, they are trying to regain their dominance (both as states and as a union). They prepare a fast transition towards war economies and societies, demanding a higher social consensus, discipline and alignment with the state commands, by setting up war industries and channeling more state funds for the supply of war systems, whatever that means for the already low social welfare.
The war is everywhere, the enemy is here. Against the Greek state and capital, their interests and their coalitions, which are active participants in the war in Iran (as well)
In all this context the Greek state is neither inactive nor mutual as it claims to be. It is the exact opposite: It is an active participant in this war as well, trying to empower its status and to serve its own interests. The Greek state is participating with no pretext, by providing the NATO bases which spread throughout the entire Greek region, it distributes weapons and military equipment and mobilizes its troops outside its borders, as it has done at the beginning of the war by sending military aircrafts and frigates to Cyprus (yes, Cyprus is abroad as much as Greek nationalism may claim the opposite). The presence of Greek military forces in Cyprus does not seem to be temporary in any case, but what the Greek state aspires to is to create an unbreakable military zone (Greece-Cyprus) around the supposed hydrocarbon resources in EEZs (Exclusive Economic Zones) which are in dispute with the Turkish state. In these, big multinational corporations are going to perform test drillings. At the same time, it is trying to create done deals under the framework of the so-called “Greek-Turkish antagonism” by placing series of patriot missiles in Karpathos when the Turkish state, on the basis of its own nationalist politics and goals, steadily demands the demilitarization of the islands of the Aegean Sea.
The Greek state is an active participant in all the war fronts in the last years. The statement made by the prime minister “we are at war with Russia” is still vivid after the Russian invasion in Ukraine. In that particular war front, besides the “upgrade” of the military base in Alexandroupoli, Greece has also sent military equipment for the support of the Ukrainian state. Since 2021, the Greek state has set up a complete Patriot missile defense system in Saudi Arabia (which was advertised for its success in intercepting Iranian drones during the current war), to deter a possible attack from Iran, when in that period, a civil war was taking place in Yemen (one side was supported by Saudi Arabia and the Houthi side was supported by Iran). Of course, one cannot ignore the leading part that the Greek state has played in the European Operation ASPIDES (since February 2024) with the participation of the Greek frigate in the Red Sea in dealing with the Yemen Houthis. The commanding office of these operations was based in Larisa, and it was under the Greek military command.
For more than 15 years (since 2010) the Greek state has been (after the USA) the most loyal ally of Israel, by signing agreements on all levels (financial, military, research, tourist etc.). It has of course provided Israel with political and ideological back up in the genocide of Palestinians, recognizing its supposed right to self-defense, by giving any kind of support to the Israeli state. The last “episode” in the series of this bloodshed coalition is the recent collaboration with Israel (for 3 billion euros that was voted in the Greek parliament) for the Achilles Shield Anti-Missile Dome. At the same time, the creation of an “International Stabilization Force” is under way, which will function as an occupying army in the Gaza Strip, on the side of IDF and Greek military units will most likely be part of it. In exactly this context, the Greece-Cyprus-Israel coalition, which is constantly developing, is creating a kind of military stranglehold against Turkey (with which Israel has conflicting interests causing complaints on the part of Turkey) orientated at boosting the Greek interests in the southeast Mediterranean. For that exact reason, what is not an accident is the continuous praise in public discourse by officials, army officers, military analysts and journalists of the “state of Israel and its people”, which has been fighting constantly for decades and it is an example of constant fighting readiness so as to face a permanent state of emergency. The goal is to boost nationalism, militarism and patriarchy internally.
The Greek state is attempting to play a leading part in the NATO alliance, by spending the greatest percentage of its GDP for military equipment, aspiring to upgrade itself to a cop-protector in the broader area by “providing security” to neighboring countries. The Greek capital moves in parallel, as in the recent warfare in the Middle East it spots another field for profit. More specifically, the big Greek shipping companies are transferring American oil and LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), they are supplying Israeli ports (thus playing a crucial part in the genocide of the Palestinians) and they are at the same time transferring Russian oil despite the international sanctions against the Russian state. The pursuit of profit and accumulation knows no limits when it comes to the Greek capital…
We, on our part, will keep forever putting forward being national traitors against the Greek state and national armies. Always against the states and the bosses. Always on the side of the oppressed, the rebels, the rioters and the struggling people. We are not in line with the state and its national interests. We do not bow to militarism and its ideals. We must not only stand against the war, but also against the general condition of the Greek (not only) state preparing for war. Against the dire reality of capitalist “peace.”
Solidarity with those who are hurt by warfare and with those who stand against the war.
Neither national nor religious, our war is class war.
